Update - Had a blast this weekend, whats in the works?
Well I had a real blast this weekend - so much so that I wanted to deviate from my normal subject matter to write about it. I went to a show at the Ontario Improv on Sunday with 5 of my good friends. I don't think I have ever been to a better live comedy show. I have been to many others; including Carlos Mencia and the late, great - George Carlin; but somehow none of them measured up to the hilarity of the show we went to last Sunday. Jo Koy (top) was the headliner, Thai Rivera (middle) and Adam Hammer (bottom) opened for him.
Although my new favorite comedian Jo Koy was the main attraction I can't say that his openers weren't just as funny. Not that Jo was anything short of spectacular - but Thai and Adam are just that great. To anyone who likes to laugh; if you haven't seen these three comedic greats yet - it is essential that you give them a try!
I have been to another of Jo Koy's shows in the past and each has had it's own way of making me laugh until it hurts. His shows (at least those that I have been to) have also been very personal, with a slightly smaller crowd than I am used to. When I saw George Carlin and Carlos Mencia (multiple times each) the show was always in a gigantic theater where I had to watch monitors if I didn't want to strain my eyes - hundreds if not thousands of people. When I have seen Jo's shows it's been much more enjoyable - in smaller more relaxed environments. Not to mention his love for his fans; every performer always says 'oh i love my fans' but when he thanks his audience and the look on his face when he's relaxing after his shows with his fans - you know he really does appreciate his fans the way they appreciate his art.
I am a bit distracted from everything because I just got my car parts in the mail and am busy tinkering in my car tonight.
